Reinforced Adobe Building Discussion

Help Legalize Natural Building

hosted by Quail Springs Permaculture

Here's an opportunity to take action towards sustainable policy & take home some natural building wisdom.
Quail Springs is responding to the regional need for fire-safe, affordable housing. Alongside partner organizations, consultants and local government officials, they have begun a process of advancing building codes that will allow the permitting of monolithic adobe structures (also known as “cob”).

This process entails:

  • research to acquire necessary engineering data (seismic and fire)
  • permitting of our site as an educational and research facility
  • engineering pre-approved fire-safe cob ADU (accessory dwelling unit) plans.

With fire safety, climate change, and affordable housing on everyone’s mind, the time is right for cob to become more widely used in Southern California.
We hope to see you at this upcoming event on June 15th, "Reinforced Adobe Building", where our team will present on policy updates and new research, followed by a community dialog around this fire-safe style of building.
